KIA WWII Medic’s Soldbuch & Award Docs – KIA April 1945 – Marine-Schützen-Bataillon 123!

0,01

This historically significant German WWII Soldbuch group belonged to a combat medic who served on the Eastern Front until his death in April 1945 during the final battles in East Prussia.

The soldier served with multiple infantry and territorial defense units before being assigned to Sicherungs-Regiment 34 and later Sicherungs-Regiment 45, both of which saw heavy combat during the Soviet offensives in Lithuania. During this period, he was credited with four assault days and four close-combat days and was wounded in action.

He later fought in the Memel area before being transferred near the end of the war to Marine-Schützen-Bataillon 123, the final unit recorded in his Soldbuch.

In April 1945, this unit was encircled and destroyed in the Samland Pocket in East Prussia. Following the launch of the Soviet Samland Offensive on 13 April 1945, German forces in the region were annihilated after intense fighting.

The medic was killed in action on 15 April 1945 in a forest near Kobbelbude, while defending the area against Soviet troops to allow fleeing civilians to escape. His Soldbuch, along with the enclosed ownership certificates, was likely returned to his family via one of the final evacuation ships transporting troops and civilians from the area.

Awards Included

  • War Merit Cross, 2nd Class (KVK II)

  • Infantry Assault Badge, Silver (ISA)

  • Wound Badge, Black (VWA)

Condition & Contents

  • No denazification

  • Award documents for KVK II, ISA Silver, and Wound Badge

This is a rare, combat-related medic Soldbuch group with exceptional late-war Eastern Front history, directly tied to the final battles in East Prussia and the humanitarian defense of civilians during the war’s closing days. A highly desirable and well-documented piece for the advanced WWII collector or militaria historian.

KIA Wehrpass & Polizei-Dienstpaß – Polizei-Bataillon 303 (One of most notorious Police Bataillons!)

650,00

Original Wehrpass & Polizei-Dienstpaß of a NCO which served with the 3. Kompanie/ Polizei-Bataillon 303 and was Killed in Action on August 19, 1941. He was Polizei-Oberwachtmeister and served as groupleader. Before joining the police, he served with the Kavallerie-Regiment “Lüneburg”. He was member of the NSDAP, Reichsluftschutzbund, Soldatenbund and Reichskriegerbund.

He served with the Polizei-Bataillon 303 from April 941 until his death in August 1941. Polizei-Bataillon 303 was one of the most notorious police bataillons! His battlelist shows he took part in various “Säuberungsaufgabe” (“Clean-up” duties).

Police Battalion 303 was an Order Police (Ordnungspolizei) unit that participated in the German invasion of the Soviet Union beginning on 22 June 1941 as part of Operation Barbarossa. After forcing a crossing of the San River near Sanok, the battalion advanced eastward through occupied Poland and western Ukraine, passing through cities and regions including Przemyśl, Lviv, Brody, Dubno, Rivne, Zhytomyr, and ultimately reaching Kyiv.

Initially, the battalion was tasked with rear-area security and so-called “mopping-up” operations against dispersed Soviet troops. As the campaign progressed, however, its role expanded significantly. The unit became directly involved in anti-Jewish violence, with the 3rd Company carrying out early shootings of Jews in locations such as Miropol and Cutnow. Evidence suggests participation in further mass killing operations, although the full extent of its involvement in Zhytomyr remains unclear.

From 23 September to 14 October 1941, Police Battalion 303 was stationed in Kyiv, where it first performed policing and security duties. Following Soviet sabotage attacks in the city on 24 September 1941, German authorities initiated mass reprisals against the Jewish population. During the massacre at Babyn Yar on 29–30 September 1941—when 33,771 Jews were murdered—the battalion played a documented supporting role. Its responsibilities included sealing off areas, searching Jewish victims for valuables prior to execution on Melnykova Street, and transporting confiscated property.

Overall, the record shows that Police Battalion 303 evolved from a conventional security formation into an integral component of the Nazi occupation and extermination apparatus in Ukraine, actively facilitating the Holocaust through both direct killings and logistical support for mass murder operations.

He was appointed to command a regiment in the SS Division Hitlerjugend in 1943. He led the unit in the Battle for Caen, receiving the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on 11 July 1944. Mohnke was given command of his original division, the Leibstandarte, during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. During the Battle of Berlin, Mohnke commanded the Kampfgruppe Mohnke and was charged with defending the Berlin government district, including the Reich Chancellery and the Reichstag. He was investigated after the war for war crimes, including allegations that he was responsible for the murder of prisoners in France in 1940, Normandy in June 1944 and Belgium in December 1944.

SS-Panzer-Division “LSSAH”. He was also the last Commander of the SS-Panzer-Regiment 12 “Hitlerjugend”. Postcardsize. Condition as seen.

Ritterkreuz Awarded for: “On the 12.07.1943 the II./SS-Panzer-Regiment 1 was attached to the 2. Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment LSSAH, and was on standby just behind the forward infantry positions in the area around Hill 252.2 and the railway line about 2.5 km southeast of Prokhorovka.

At around 08:15 on that day about 150 enemy tanks (mostly T-34s) suddenly broke through the friendly infantry security. They stormed into the Panzer assembly area along a narrow front with great speed and all weapons firing. SS-Sturmbannführer Groß was swift to organize friendly resistance, and did so with such skill that the enemy tanks were surrounded on three sides. He himself fought in the middle of his troops, firing in every direction. Through his courageous example he inspired his entire Abteilung to fight, and in a tank battle that lasted about three hours it destroyed about 90 enemy tanks. The remainder were mostly knocked out in close combat or by friendly artillery. Friendly Panzer losses were minimal.”

Battle of Kovel 1944 – RARE Photo & Document Set (Signed by Gille as Kdr. “Festen Platzes Kowel”!)

750,00

A historically unified and RARE frontline-issued German combat award document set belonging to Gefreiter Martin Mohr, serving in a motorized Eastern Front artillery unit equipped with RSO tractor-towed Ie.F.H. howitzers (1. Batterie/ Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilung 426).

The centerpiece EK2 award certificate for the Iron Cross 2nd Class was issued in the field on 9 May 1944 (“Im Felde”), during the height of the Battle of the Kovel Pocket, and is personally signed in ink by Herbert Gille, in his role as Commander of “Fester Platz Kowel” — the fortified defensive sector responsible for the heroic containment and breakout of encircled German forces in April–May 1944.

Accompanying it is the matching Wound Badge in Black Besitzzeugnis, issued 2 July 1944, officially documenting Mohr’s first combat wounding sustained on 22 April 1944, a date that aligns precisely with the heaviest engagements of the Kovel defensive battles under Gille’s command.

Included original period photographs further reinforce the Eastern Front provenance, showing German troops, motorized artillery vehicles, and RSO unit field conditions, forming a cohesive historical grouping.

Award documents signed by Herbert Gille are exceptionally scarce — and examples explicitly issued under “Fester Platz Kowel” authority, dated during active combat, are among the rarest battle-attributed Iron Cross documents known to survive. This is a museum-grade artifact of unquestionable historical weight and extraordinary collector significance.

Photograph & Signature Set of Werner-Albrecht Freiherr von und zu Gilsa (RK+EL, Suicide!)

0,01

Offered here is an original wartime autograph on a photographic portrait of General der Infanterie Werner-Albrecht Freiherr von und zu Gilsa, a distinguished officer whose military career spanned both World War I and World War II.

Included alongside the signed photograph is a separate handwritten note addressed to his nephew, also personally signed by von Gilsa. These two authentic period signatures have been mounted onto a vintage orange archival card, accompanied by a contemporary newspaper clipping, forming a visually compelling, one-of-a-kind display that reflects the character of wartime collecting and remembrance.

The grouping is further enhanced by four original photographs that deepen the story:

  • Three portraits of von Gilsa, including a striking World War I–era image, presenting a rare cross-generational perspective of the same man in two global conflicts.

  • A graveside photograph honoring his son, a young Luftwaffe pilot killed in action, a solemn testament to the personal cost borne by military families.

General von Gilsa was awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes with Oak Leaves, one of Germany’s highest wartime honors for command leadership and bravery. As the war reached its end, he chose death over capture, taking his own life during the collapse of 1945—a tragic and defining conclusion that lends profound historical gravity and rarity to surviving autographs from this period.

Photo Grouping – U-Boat Crewman (U-48 – Most succesful U-Boat of WWII!)

395,00

Remarkable and diverse original photograph collection belonging to a Kriegsmarine U-Boat crew member, possibly of the famed U-48, the most successful German submarine of the Second World War. The set comprises 14 period photographs, showing the sailor’s career progression, service aboard a U-Boat, and several earlier images from his Imperial German Navy (WWI) service.

The highlight of the grouping are multiple photographs depicting U-Boat conning tower artwork and crew scenes on deck, including a clearly visible tower painting matching that of U-48 — the “laughing swordfish” motif associated with this legendary vessel. Several photos show officers and enlisted men posing beside the decorated U-Boat hull, along with portraits both in uniform and casual settings.

The remaining images document a rich personal and military history, featuring:

  • Crew group portraits taken both at sea and on land

  • Tower close-ups and harbor scenes, showing Kriegsmarine flags and deck fittings

  • Individual studio portraits in U-Boat dress uniforms, with badges and insignia visible

  • Earlier WWI-era naval photos, likely of the same man during his first period of service

Historical Context:
U-48 was commissioned in 1939 and became the most successful submarine of the Second World War, credited with sinking over 50 Allied ships (approximately 306,000 tons) before being scuttled in 1945. The presence of tower art and uniform details consistent with early-war Kriegsmarine U-Boat units strongly suggests these images relate to personnel of this elite vessel or one within its flotilla.

Collector’s Note:
Authentic U-Boat photographs — particularly those showing tower art — are exceptionally rare and highly sought after among Kriegsmarine collectors. This set offers not only identifiable imagery from an early and highly successful U-Boat but also a personalized service record across both World Wars, adding significant historical depth.
The prints are period originals on wartime photographic paper, several with studio stamps or annotations on reverse.

RARE Photograph Set – RKT Bernhard Klemz of Panzer-Regiment “Großdeutschland” (Wartime Signed!)

850,00

Exceptional set of 9x Total (7) original wartime and (2) postwar photographs of Hauptmann Bernhard Klemz (1918–2004), Knight’s Cross and German Cross in Gold recipient, commander of 5./ Panzer-Regiment “Großdeutschland”. Several photographs bear period autographs and inscriptions on the reverse, dated 1943–1944, with one postwar signature from 1958. The set includes formal studio portraits in uniform as well as informal front photographs showing Klemz with fellow officers during field operations.

  • Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross (Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes)

  • German Cross in Gold (Deutsches Kreuz in Gold)

Historical Context:
Bernhard Klemz earned the Knight’s Cross on 4 June 1944 as Hauptmann und Chef 5.Kompanie/ Panzer-Regiment “Großdeutschland”, for decisive leadership during the battles near Târgu Frumos (Romania) in April 1944. Commanding 19 Panzer IVs, Klemz led a surprise attack on Soviet armoured concentrations, destroying twenty tanks and multiple artillery positions while sustaining minimal losses. His tactical success was later cited as a model example of mobile armoured warfare in the Eastern Front campaigns.

Klemz’s prior awards included the German Cross in Gold (10 February 1944), reflecting consistent excellence in command during operations in the East.

Collector’s Note:
This is a rare, cohesive photographic grouping connected to one of the notable Panzer officers of the “Großdeutschland” Division. The presence of multiple signed photographs, personal inscriptions, and clear period provenance make this set highly desirable for collectors of Knight’s Cross recipients, Panzertruppen memorabilia, or Großdeutschland Division history.
All prints exhibit sharp contrast and period authenticity — several showing studio backstamps or annotations from 1943–1944.
