Set of a KIA Fallschirmjäger of the Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 1

Schmitz, who was Killed in Action on March 4, 1943 near Storoshichtsche 80 km sw. Orel Dmitrowsk while serving with the 4. Kompanie/ Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 1. During his service he earned the Fallschirmschützen-Abzeichen although this is not entered in his Wehrpass, it’s confirmed with a copy of his FSA award document. There’s also a photograph of his brother (whom most likely was also Killed in Action, according to information on Volksbund).
