Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Friedrich Wunderlich. Korvettenkapitän Friedrich Wunderlich (13.08.1891 in Bückeburg † 27.03.1977 in München) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on June 10, 1944 as Korvettenkapitän z.V. und Chef of the 14. U-Jagdflottille. Good condition.
Korvettenkapitän Friedrich Wunderlich has proved his worth as captain of a submarine hunter and later as commander of a submarine hunter flotilla. During his first command he sunk an enemy submarine and heavily damaged two more. In heavy combat with English bombers he also shot down a bomber with a 2 cm cannon and machine guns. Over the course of his second command, the submarine hunter flotilla under his leadership was able to shoot down 12 aircraft and sink one destroyer escort, four torpedo boats, and an artillery boat. It also swept 60 mines.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
