3x Award Document Grouping – EK2, IAB Silver & Ostmedaille – Grenadier-Regiment 239 (106. Infanterie-Division)

Interesting named Wehrmacht award document grouping to Obergefreiter / Fahnenjunker-Unteroffizier Hugo Melchior of Grenadier-Regiment 239, part of the 106. Infanterie-Division.

The grouping consists of three original award documents:

• Infantry Assault Badge in Silver (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber), awarded on 7 October 1942 while serving with 8./Infanterie-Regiment 239
• Eastern Front Medal / Ostmedaille (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42), awarded on 14 January 1944 as Obergefreiter R.O.B.
• Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse / EK2), awarded on 19 June 1944 as Fahnenjunker-Unteroffizier with 8.(M.G.)/Grenadier-Regiment 239

A very attractive progression grouping showing Melchior’s wartime military career from early infantry service through promotion to Fahnenjunker-Unteroffizier. The documents remain together and provide a clear timeline of frontline service on the Eastern Front.

Grenadier-Regiment 239 belonged to the 106. Infanterie-Division, a formation heavily engaged in combat on the Eastern Front. The EK2 document bears a divisional staff signature that is likely that of Generalmajor Siegfried von Rekowski, commander of the division during this period.

A desirable and well-matched wartime document grouping to a frontline infantryman, ideal for collectors of named Wehrmacht award groups, infantry-related material, or items connected to the 106. Infanterie-Division.

Condition as shown in the photos, with typical folding, storage, and handling wear.
