Rare Normandy Killed in Action Soldbuch of Grenadier Herbert Pöpperl who served with the 5. Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 984 of the 275. Infanterie-Division. He was Killed in Action on July 10, 1944 on the Cherbourg Peninsula in Normandy (after the U.S. cut of the German forces at St. Mere-Eglise). Interestingly, one of the most known photos from Normandy (see last photo – this is not included within the sale -) was taken on July 8, 1944 and shows KIA soldiers of Grenadier-Regiment 984 (ref. Didier Lodieu) close to Saint-Fromond. Likely he was KIA as well around this area. He was killed only 8 days before his 19th birthday. Good condition. Comes with his Arbeitsbuch (front has white slip pasted on the Swastika) & document related to his death & burial.
