Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Erhard Bauer. Unteroffizier Erhard Bauer (25.12.1924 † 02.09.2011) earned the Ritterkreuz on October 4, 1944 as Gefreiter und Truppführer of the 1. Kompanie/ Pionier-Bataillon 102 of the 102. Infanterie-Division. Bit smaller as PC.
Awarded for distinguishing himself during August 1944. In this time he played a major role in covering the withdrawal of his Division back to the Bug river. He would do so likewise as his Division pulled back from the Bug to the Narew. In this time he engaged Soviet forces that had broken into the German positions with appropriate counterthrusts, showing great decisiveness as he did so.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
