Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Gerhard Lindner. Generalmajor Gerhard Lindner (26.12.1896 in Bautzen † 04.06.1982 in Aurich) earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on February 7, 1943 with Grenadier-Regiment 167 and the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on May 5, 1945 as Generalmajor und Kommandeur of the 346. Infanterie-Division.
“Battles near Arnhem. Divisional commander showed great devotion to duty in the foremost line. He deployed his reserve for a deliberate counterattack on his own initiative. This counterattack pushed back the enemy and prevented them from achieving their intended breakthrough towards the north. Request for award endorsed. Generalmajor Lindner is a fearless leader of men even in the midst of fierce combat.”
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
