Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Josef Knotzer. Major Josef Knotzer (09.03.1910 in Pötsching † 09.04.1997 in Eisenstadt) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on March 1, 1940 as Major und Kommandant of Flughafen Horst Wiesbaden and Führer der Alarmeinheiten aus dem Raum Wiesbaden bei Remagen. Small ID size.
Awarded for his leadership of the Luftgau XII’s alarm units subordinated to the 9. Panzer-Division in early 1945. He achieved a local defense success with this unit in the Rheinbreitbach – Bad Honnef area.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
