Original German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for Zollsekretär Rudolf Naumann, awarding the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), dated 1. September 1942 in Berlin.
The certificate was issued under the authority of the Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine (Commander-in-Chief of the German Navy), Großadmiral Erich Raeder. His name and rank are printed on the document.
The award is officially signed by a Kapitän zur See, identified in the printed text as serving with the Marinepersonalamt (Navy Personnel Office). The document retains its original Kriegsmarine service seal (Dienstsiegel) and the administrative reference MPA I.B. Nr. 12031/42.
An interesting award certificate for collectors of Kriegsmarine militaria, naval administration and German wartime award documents, particularly as it was issued to a named customs official rather than a serving naval rank.
Condition
The document shows age-related toning, a prominent horizontal fold, scattered small stains and handling marks. Two punched holes are present along the left margin. The printed text, certification signature and official seal remain visible.
