25,00

Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Ludwig Promesberger. Obergefreiter Ludwig Promesberger (20.01.1911 in Stuttgart † 24.02.2004 in Rümmingen) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on May 14, 1944 as Obergefreiter und MG-Schütze in the 8. Kompanie/ Panzergrenadier-Regiment 103 of the 14. Panzer-Division.

During the defensive battles of the 14. Panzer-Division SW of Cherkassy, at the end of February 1944, the Soviets succeeded in overrunning the Bataillon staff of the II./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 103. In response to this Obergefreiter Promesberger launched a counterattack on his own initiative that managed to push the Soviets back to their jump-off positions and recapture the old German line.

Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
