Luftwaffe Soldbuch – Officer – Kampfgeschwader 55 “Greif” – MIA July 1942 with He 111
Original WWII Luftwaffe Soldbuch (zweitschrift) belonging to Max Jessen, born 9 May 1920 in Greifswald. During his service, he served with Kampfgeschweider 55 “Greif”. Jessen was decorated with the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Bronze and Silver, as well as the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse and 1. Klasse. He was subsequently reported missing in action on 10 July 1942.
His final operational flight can be identified with Heinkel He 111 H-6, Werknummer 7106, tactical code G1+GN, of 5./KG 55. The aircraft departed from Dnjepropetrowsk and was lost in the Starobelsk area on 10 July 1942 under unknown circumstances. The entire crew was reported missing. The aircraft-loss database independently records the same Werknummer, tactical code, unit and date.
The signature on the awards page might be Fritz Bliesener (RK 20-12-1941). Died in November 1942 when he crashed in a Me-108.
A particularly interesting and extensively completed Luftwaffe bomber pilot Soldbuch, combining identified personnel, operational KG 55 service, multiple combat awards and an identified aircraft loss.
Condition: Original wartime condition with age-related wear, staining, creasing and handling. Numerous original entries and stamps throughout. Please see photographs.
