Ritterkreuz: “Oberstleutnant Schrank has especially distinguished himself by his personal bravery and decisiveness. Through the encirclement and capture of the elusive enemy forces in the south of Crete on the 01.06.1941, the operations on the island could be brought to a successful conclusion. Schrank has secured a decisive share in the total victory over the English troops.”
