Ostmedaille 1941/42 Award Doc – Unteroffizier – Artillerie-Regiment 34

Original wartime Besitzzeugnis for the Ostmedaille “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42”, awarded to Unteroffizier Friedrich Pinkenelle of the 6. Batterie, Artillerie-Regiment 34. The certificate records that the medal was awarded on 24 August 1942, for participation in the severe winter campaign on the Eastern Front during 1941/42.

Artillerie-Regiment 34 was the divisional artillery regiment of the 34. Infanterie-Division, which fought on the Eastern Front during the 1941/42 winter campaign, including the difficult defensive fighting in the Moscow/Juchnow sector.

The certificate bears the official divisional/unit stamp together with an original handwritten signature “Für die Richtigkeit” by an Oberst und Regimentskommandeur. This gives the document additional interest as a regimental-level award certificate, rather than simply a generic post-war confirmation.

The Ostmedaille, officially titled the Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42, was introduced to recognize personnel who had served in the campaign during the exceptionally difficult winter conditions on the Eastern Front. This example was awarded in August 1942 and therefore represents contemporary documentation from the period when the decoration was being actively issued to veterans of the 1941/42 winter campaign.

Condition: Original wartime condition with a horizontal fold, additional light creasing, age toning and minor handling/storage wear. The certificate remains clean and fully legible, with the original unit stamp and handwritten signature clearly preserved.
