Original Wehrpass & Documents of Obergefreiter Georg Ludwig who served with the Artillerie-Regiment 216, Artillerie-Regiment 272, Feldersatz-Bataillon 272 and 14. (Panzerjäger) Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 982 of the 272. Infanterie-Division. Obergefreiter Georg Ludwig was wounded on August 17, 1944 in Normandy by a “Granatsplitter Streifschuss linker Elbogen“. while serving with the 14. Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 982. During his service, he earned the Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42, which is noted in the Wehrpass, but I also expect that he was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (as there’s a paper noting that he was recommended for it for his excellent service) and a Wound Badge in Black due his wound suffered in Normandy, however there’s no evidence as it isn’t noted within the Wehrpass (doesn’t necesarry mean, he didn’t receive it, there’s numerous evidence of Wehrpasse not being filled in completely). He was likely wounded near or in the area of Falaise.
