Original German Wound Badge in Black (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz), 1939 pattern, manufactured by Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz, and maker marked “93” on the reverse.
The “93” maker code is attributed to Richard Simm & Söhne of Gablonz an der Neiße, a recognized manufacturer of German World War II decorations.
This example is constructed from blackened sheet steel, representing a typical wartime production of the black grade. The badge features the characteristic M35-style steel helmet, crossed swords and laurel wreath.
