German DRK Helferin Badge – Enamel Membership Badge
€45,00
An original German Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) Helferin badge from the Second World War period, intended for female helpers serving within the German Red Cross organisation.
The circular badge features a central red cross on a white enamel field, surrounded by a black enamel border bearing the Gothic inscription “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Helferin” (German Red Cross Helper).
The badge is manufactured in a copper-alloy construction with multicoloured enamel detailing. The reverse bears the marking “GES. GESCH.”, an abbreviation of Gesetzlich Geschützt, meaning “legally protected.” No specific manufacturer is identifiable from the visible marking.
The original horizontal pin assembly remains attached to the reverse.
Historical Background
During the Second World War, female DRK helpers contributed to medical assistance, hospital services, patient transport and civilian relief. These badges served as identifying insignia associated with their service within the organisation.
Condition
The badge displays attractive age-related patina and surface discolouration to the reverse. The front retains its distinctive red, white and black enamel colours, with visible wear and fine age-related surface imperfections, particularly to the white field and dark outer border. The pin assembly is present.
Please examine the photographs carefully for the exact condition.
