  • Reason for award (summary): On 5 December 1944, near Pásztó in Hungary, Wagner’s Sturmgeschütze helped stop a Soviet breakthrough to the northwest. His guns knocked out several enemy tanks, forced the remaining tanks and accompanying infantry to break off the attack, and he then rallied fleeing Flak gunners from 18. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division “Horst Wessel”, bringing them back into their positions. With these Flak guns and his assault guns he created a blocking line that held for several days without reinforcement – an action that earned him the Knight’s Cross.

Original folding New Year’s greeting card from Adolf Wagner (1 October 1890 – 12 April 1944), Gauleiter of Munich–Upper Bavaria (München–Oberbayern) and Bavarian State Minister (Staatsminister). Wagner was one of the early members of the NSDAP and a senior political leader in Bavaria, holding the dual posts of Gauleiter and Minister of the Interior until his death in 1944.

The card bears the printed message:
“Zum Jahreswechsel sende ich Ihnen auch im Namen meiner Frau die besten Glückwünsche” (“At the turn of the year, I send you, also in the name of my wife, my best wishes”).

Signed in ink “Adolf Wagner” below the printed title Staatsminister. The cover shows the embossed eagle and swastika emblem above the printed letterhead Der Gauleiter München–Oberbayern.

This original wartime thank-you card, personally signed by Leopold Gutterer , was issued on the occasion of his promotion within the Ministry. The printed text expresses gratitude for the attention shown upon his advancement, ending with his handwritten signature in black ink. Leopold Gutterer (25 April 1902 – 28 April 1991) was a senior official (Ministerialdirektor) in the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda), serving directly under Joseph Goebbels. A long-time civil servant and National Socialist administrator, Gutterer held influential posts related to press, film, and cultural coordination during the war years.

Original and attractive WWII German coconut canteen (Kokosnuss Feldflasche) complete with its carrying straps and accompanying metal drinking cup.

The canteen retains its distinctive dark coconut shell body with period webbing harness and black bakelite screw cap. The accompanying cup remains attached and shows characteristic wartime field use and paint wear. A very appealing example with strong display character.

Visible maker markings to the coconut body include:

The canteen shows honest wartime wear and age throughout, including surface scratches, paint loss to the cup, oxidation to metal components, and field-used patina. The webbing remains present and displays nicely together with the canteen.

These coconut canteens are strongly associated with tropical and southern theatre service and are considerably less common than standard Wehrmacht M31 canteens, making them particularly desirable display pieces today.

This example retains a very attractive appearance with a pleasing naturally aged patina and a substantial amount of its original silver finish still present, particularly on the helmet, wreath, and crossed swords. The badge shows strong detailing throughout and remains a visually appealing piece.

The reverse setup is fully intact with its original hinge, pin, and catch assembly. The maker mark “107” is clearly visible beneath the hinge.

The Silver Grade Wound Badge was awarded to German servicemen wounded three or four times in combat, or for more severe injuries sustained during active military service.

SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Seyss-Inquart (22.07.1892 † 16.10.1946) (22.07.1892 † 16.10.1946) was Austrian Nazi politician who served as Chancellor of Austria in 1938 for two days before the Anschluss. His positions in Nazi Germany included deputy governor to Hans Frank in the General Government of Occupied Poland, and Reichskommissar for the German-occupied Netherlands. In the latter role, he shared responsibility for the deportation of Dutch Jews and the shooting of hostages. At the Nuremberg trials, Seyss-Inquart was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, sentenced to death, and executed by hanging. Postcardsize. Condition as seen.

The badge is manufactured in attractive tombak construction with multi-colored enamel finish and retains its original functional pin assembly to the reverse. Reverse is marked: “GES. GESCH.” for Gesetzlich Geschützt (legally protected design).

Original WWII German Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) membership / helper badge featuring the classic red cross design surrounded by the inscription: “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Helferin”

The badge is manufactured in tombak/copper construction with attractive multi-colored enamel finish. Reverse retains its original functional pin setup and is marked: “GES. GESCH.” together with the maker initials: “E.L.M.” identifying the manufacturer as: Ernst L. Müller, Pforzheim

a known wartime producer of political and organizational insignia during the Third Reich period.

The badge displays attractive untouched age patina throughout the reverse, while the enamel front remains highly displayable with honest period wear and fine age-related craquelure to the white enamel field.

Original World War 2 German Erkennungsmarke (“Identity Disc”) of “II./A.R.55” which stands for II. Abteilung/ Artillerie-Regiment 55, individual number 20 and bloodgroup B. Condition as seen.

I have researched the tag and the tag belonged to Wachmeister Josef Witkowski. He served with the Artillerie-Regiment 55 and afterwards with the 11. Batterie/ Artillerie-Regiment 81. Severely wounded on August 18, 1942 in Schirwanskaja by Artillerie shrapnel. Then with schwere Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 63 in Landsberg/Lech. He went Missing in Action on December 16, 1942. Declared death! No further info.
