Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse Award Certificate – Marinebordflakbrigade Nord – 1 March 1945

Original German award certificate (Urkunde) for the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class), awarded to Matrose Obergefreiter Manfred Schröder of the German Kriegsmarine.

The certificate is dated 1 March 1945 and was issued at O.U. (Ortsunterkunft / field headquarters). It bears the original period Kriegsmarine Dienstsiegel and the signature of a Vizeadmiral and Kommandeur der Marinebordflakbrigade Nord Fritz Lamprecht.

Of particular interest is the very late-war date of 1 March 1945, when the German Kriegsmarine was operating under increasingly desperate conditions. The certificate was issued by the Marineoberkommando Nord, making it an interesting example of late-war Kriegsmarine award documentation.

Condition

Original wartime document with two filing holes along the left edge, horizontal folding, light age-related discoloration and general handling/storage wear. The printed text, recipient’s details, original stamp and handwritten signature remain clearly visible.
