Original WWII German award certificate for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), awarded to Oberleutnant der Reserve Franz Heinle on 1 September 1941 in Munich.

The certificate identifies the recipient as Oberleutnant der Reserve Franz Heinle (Reserve First Lieutenant) and records the award of the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords. It is an original example of German wartime award documentation issued during the early period of the Second World War.

The document was issued under the authority of the Stellvertretender Kommandierender General des VII. Armeekorps und Befehlshaber im Wehrkreis VII (Deputy Commanding General of VII Army Corps and Commander of Military District VII). The certificate names General der Artillerie Wachenfeld (General of Artillery Wachenfeld) as the responsible senior commander. His printed name and rank appear prominently beneath the issuing authority. Interesting that it remained unsigned!

The Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross with Swords) recognised meritorious service connected with the war effort involving enemy action. Dated 1 September 1941, this certificate originates from a period when German forces were engaged in major operations across Europe and the Eastern Front.

Additional details include the circular official Dienstsiegel (service seal) of the Stellvertretendes Generalkommando VII. Armeekorps (Deputy General Command of VII Army Corps), as well as handwritten entries in the award register number field. The combination of a named recipient, specific award date, issuing command and named senior general makes this an interesting historical document for collectors of German military awards and original WWII paperwork.

Condition

The certificate shows age-related toning, a prominent horizontal fold across the centre, minor creasing, scattered small marks and light staining. The printed text and typewritten recipient details remain legible. The official seal is visible, and handwritten entries appear in the lower-left section. Please examine the photographs carefully for the exact condition.
