Original Imperial German Besitz-Zeugnis für das Verwundetenabzeichen (Wound Badge Certificate), issued by the Königliches Bezirkskommando Insterburg in East Prussia.
The certificate confirms the award of the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz (Wound Badge in Black) for one wound sustained during the First World War.
The recipient’s handwritten details include a birth date of 15. Januar 1892 and a place of birth or residence recorded as Beyersheim (handwriting requires confirmation). His name and military designation are also entered by hand, although parts of the inscription are difficult to decipher.
Dated 2. August 1918, the document bears the original purple district-command stamp and the signature of the Oberleutnant und Bezirkskommandeur.
The certificate features an attractive green oak-leaf border and is a fine example of the Imperial German wound-badge documentation issued during the final year of the First World War. Particularly appealing to collectors of Imperial German awards and East Prussian militaria.
Condition
Age-related toning and spotting, with a pronounced horizontal fold across the centre, additional creasing and minor edge wear. The printed design, handwritten entries and official stamp remain intact.
