SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann “Buchenwald” (KZ) Soldbuch + Award Doc! (from Bombardement on Buchenwald!)

Soldbuch and Award document for a SS-Sturmmann / Gefreiter Josef Kirchner. The Soldbuch is complete and has a ID photo in it. He most likely (according to info in the Soldbuch) was transferred from a reserve Wehrmacht training unit to the SS-Totenkopf-Sturmbann “Buchenwald”. Several stamps of Buchenwald as well as signatures from SS-Hauptsturmführer Schenk (not much known, in one of the books you’ll read he’s mentioned as leader of the Musikkorps) and SS-Obersturmführer Bruno Dembeck. Dembeck was notorious for torturing and killing inmates in Sachsenhausen, Dachau and Buchenwald. He died in December 1944, only two months after signing Kirchner’s leave entry. This comes with Kirchner’s award document for the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, which he was awarded for his wound(s) suffered on August 24, 1944 when the KZ Buchenwald was bombed!

2x Award documents of Unteroffizier Paul-Heinz Hoffmann, who served with the Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 1175 / Panzerjäger-Kompanie 1175 and was awarded the Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse for his heroic service in September, 1944 (see document that writes his actions) while subordinated to the 75. Infanterie-Division. Document was signed by Generalmajor Karl Arning (Ritterkreuz). He was also awarded the Allgemeines-Sturmabzeichen on October 22, 1944. Signed by the unknown Commander. Documents have been folded in the past. Comes with a period paper (pasted on a hard carton) that also describes the action that earned Paul-Heinz Hoffmann his EK1! It could have easily been higher. Uffz. Hoffmann was ‘Richtschütze’ in the Platoon Commander & Chef’s Assault Gun, he destroyed 10 Soviet tanks & 2 assault guns. He also bravely defended his KO’d Assault Gun with a MG and kept the Soviets at distance causing severe losses on their side. By doing this, his StuG was succesfully towed away in safety.

35x Photographs of Uboot “U-95“, which was under the command of Korvettenkapitän Gerd Schreiber (Survived, taken POW. Earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold). Most interestingly, U-95 was sunk by a Dutch Submarine, on 28 November 1941 in the Mediterranean Sea south-west of Almeria, by a torpedo from the Dutch submarine HrMs O 21. 35 dead and 12 survivors. Many of the photographs show its crew (many of them perished) (Arno-Georg Grewin (KIA), Egon Rudolph (Survived), Carsten Pahl (Survived), Herbert Gerbert (KIA)), Feindfahrt, symbol etc. Good condition. Klasse while serving as a Forstmeister in the Reichforstschutz (Forestry Protection Service).

He wrote a small letter, stating that he earned the EK2 for breaking through the Maginot line and the KVK2 for “constant life-danger while clearing (likely vs. partisans) the ..woods of Minsk (?).” Comes also with 3 documents related to his promotion to Leutnant.

Interesting early Killed in Action Wehrpass of a soldier from the 11. Kompanie/ SS-Regiment “Germania” on the Western Front! On May 29, 1940 he was (seriously) wounded near Vieux-Berquin (France) and died on June 6, 1940 at Neufchateau (Luxembourg). Scarce Wehrpass of early Waffen-SS casualty, who signed up for the SS-Standarte “Germania” at Hamburg-Langenhorn in 1939. He earned the HJ-Leistungsabzeichen, Grundschein der DRLG and also had a Reiterschein. I added his casualty card from the archives per illustration. He lies buried in Lommel: Block 2 Grab 321.

He served with the SS-Nachrichten-Sturmbann, two weeks on the Obersalzberg, as Nachrichten-Offizier with SS-Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 11 “Reinhard Heydrich” and SS-Nachrichten-Abteilung 5 “Wiking”. Comes with his Kennkarte and that of his wife. Both Kennkarte are torn apart in the middle. Driver’s license in good condition with great ID photo in uniform.

Regimentssportfest First Prize Award Certificate for a Leutnant Hentz of Infanterie-Regiment 5. Most interestingly, it’s signed by Oberst und Regiments-Kommandeur Friedrich-Wilhelm von Chappuis! Later General der Infanterie Friedrich-Wilhelm von Chappuis earned the Ritterkreuz in 1940 but was relieved of his position and transferred to Führerreserve in 1942, deeply affected by his replacement committed suicide on August 27, 1942. A5 size. Has been punched and has several stains.
