Allerberger is noted as the second best German Sniper of World War II with 257 kills. A book containing his memoirs are published inĀ Sniper on the Eastern Front: The Memoirs of Sepp Allerberger, Knight’s Cross.Ā (Version 1 is the uncensored and most-desirable one!). According to his memoirs, he was awarded theĀ Ritterkreuz des Eisernen KreuzesĀ on April 20, 1945 however there’s no trace or evidence (which is not uncommon near the end of the war).

Original award document set of Unterapotheker Helmut Roos, who served with the Kradschützen-Bataillon 2 and Sanitäts-Park 581. The documents include the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938, the Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938 and Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern! Most interestingly the KVK2X is signed by Generalmajor Eduard Wagner.

Eduard Wanger became a conspirator against Hitler. WhenĀ Claus von StauffenbergĀ sought approval for an assassination attempt on 15 July 1944, Wagner was cited as being definite that the assassination of Hitler should be attempted only ifĀ Heinrich Himmler was also present. On 20 July, Wagner arranged the airplane that flew Stauffenberg from RastenburgĀ back toĀ BerlinĀ after theĀ bomb that was believed to have killed Hitler had exploded.Ā After the failure of the coup attempt, Wagner feared that his arrest by the Gestapo was imminent and that he might be forced to implicate other plotters. Klatt surrendered to the Red Army in the course of the Soviet 1945 Prague Offensive. Convicted as a criminal in the Soviet Union, he was held until 1955, when he was repatriated to Germany.
