Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel Gerhard Niemeck (10.06.1916 † 19.07.1983) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on March 14, 1943 as Feldwebel und Zugführer in the 8. Kompanie/ Panzer-Regiment 31 of the 5. Panzer-Division. Small photo attached with photo corners on a postcard.
On the 07.03.1943 the 5. Panzer-Division succeeding in largely holding its defensive front, destroying 55 enemy tanks in the process. Of these, Feldwebel Niemeck alone destroyed 15 tanks with his long-barrelled Panzer IV. For his achievements on this day Niemeck would be decorated with the Knight’s Cross.

Bataillon/ Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 13 of the 5. Panzer-Division. Good Condition. Measuring: 7,3×10,4cm. Comes with an extra signed letter and enveloppe.
Knight's cross: "Starting around midday on the 16.08.1944 Kampfgruppe Friedrich, part of the 5. Panzer-Division, began a battle to eliminate a deeply echeloned Soviet Pakfront near Menaciai, located 9 km east of Akmene. By the evening the position had been rolled up after a very hard fight. On this day Feldwebel Lange particularly distinguished himself in the close combat, eliminating nest after nest and bunker after bunker with hand grenades. During the evening he was heavily wounded in action. He would be awarded the Knight’s Cross for his devotion to duty and the results he produced during the course of this engagement."
Interesting (5x!) Award document set of Obergefreiter Edmund Zacharias, who earned all of his awards while serving with the 1. Kompanie/ Panzerjäger-Abteilung 53 of the 5. Panzer-Division! Once the 2. Kompanie was mentioned although that might be an error. From 1939 onwards until (at least) 1943 he was with the same unit.
Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen (General Assault Badge) for supporting 3 assaults, was awarded on December 31, 1940 for actions during the French Campaign and was signed by Generalmajor u. Divisions-Kommandeur Gustav Fehn (Knight’s Cross), has been folded twice and punched in the past. Document is DIN A4, a nice big early variant!
