On May 29, 1940 he was (seriously) wounded near Vieux-Berquin (France) and died on June 6, 1940 at Neufchateau (Luxembourg). Scarce Wehrpass of early Waffen-SS casualty, who signed up for the SS-Standarte "Germania" at Hamburg-Langenhorn in 1939. He earned the HJ-Leistungsabzeichen, Grundschein der DRLG and also had a Reiterschein. I added his casualty card from the archives per illustration. He lies buried in Lommel: Block 2 Grab 321.

He was wanted for murder in Denmark and listed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center as one of the most wanted Nazi war criminals. He was a Knight's Cross Holder of SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 9 "Germania" of the 5. SS-Panzer-Division "Wiking".
