Oberleutnant Günther Josten (07.11.1921 in Rhynern-Hamm † 07.07.2004 in Aurich) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on February 5, 1944 as Oberfeldwebel und Flugzeugführer in the 3. Staffel/ Jagdgeschwader 51 “Mölders” and the Eichenlaub on March 28, 1945 as Oberleutnant und Staffelkapitän of the 3. Staffel/ Jagdgeschwader 51 “Mölders”. Size: 8,7x12,1cm.
He was a fighter ace credited with 178 enemy aircraft shot down in 420 combat missions, all of which claimed over the Eastern Front.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
