Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern Award Doc – Sonderführer (Z) – Feldeisenbahn-Betriebsabteilung 19, 1943

Original German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for Sonderführer (Z) Rudolf Magenheimer, awarding the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), dated 30. Januar 1943 at the headquarters of the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH) (German Army High Command).

Magenheimer is identified as serving with Stab-Feldeisenbahn-Betriebsabteilung 19 (Staff, Field Railway Operating Battalion 19). This specialist railway unit designation adds interest for collectors of German military railway history and wartime transport operations.

The certificate was issued in Vertretung des Chefs des Transportwesens (on behalf of the Chief of Transportation). It bears the official service seal (Dienstsiegel) of the Army High Command’s transport administration and a handwritten signature above the printed rank Generalmajor. The signature is not confidently identifiable from the photograph alone, so no personal attribution is made here.

Historical Interest

The award documents recognition of a member of the German Army’s field railway operating organisation. Such personnel supported military railway operations and transport logistics, making this certificate relevant to collectors specialising in Feldeisenbahn, military transportation and award documents connected with the OKH.

Condition

The certificate shows age-related toning, a pronounced horizontal fold across the centre, additional creasing and several small stains and handling marks. The official seal, printed text and handwritten signature remain visible. Documents looks to be cut from the left side?
