Luftwaffe Ritterkreuzträger Soldbuch Grouping to Major Theodor Rossiwall – Spanish Civil War Veteran, Fighter Ace & Knight’s Cross Holder

3.950,00

Exceptional and highly researchable original wartime Luftwaffe Soldbuch grouping belonging to Theodor Rossiwall (12 October 1915 – 11 July 1979), highly decorated Luftwaffe fighter ace, combat pilot, and recipient of the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes.

Rossiwall claimed a total of 19 aerial victories in over 400 combat missions, including 2 victories during the Spanish Civil War while serving with the famous Condor Legion. He is additionally associated with the aerial combat on 20 April 1941 during which RAF top ace Pat Marmaduke Pattle was shot down over Greece/Crete, with Rossiwall and Sophus Baagoe both credited with claims during the engagement.

Born in Vienna, Rossiwall originally joined the Austrian Air Force before being transferred into the Luftwaffe following the Anschluss in 1938. He later served with Jagdgruppe 88 during the Spanish Civil War, where he flew combat missions against Republican forces and achieved two confirmed aerial victories, including a Polikarpov I-16 near Reus on 20 December 1938.

On 1 July 1939, Rossiwall transferred to Zerstörergeschwader 26 (ZG 26). During the Second World War he served extensively as a Bf 110 Zerstörer pilot and Staffelkapitän, later commanding larger formations. Following the loss and capture of Eberhard von Trützschler-d’Elsa in May 1940, Rossiwall assumed command within 5./ZG 26 during the Western Campaign. During the Dunkirk operations of May 1940 he reportedly led aggressive fighter actions against RAF formations, earning a formidable reputation.

He later fought on the Eastern Front, where he claimed additional aerial victories, before commanding II./Nachtjagdgeschwader 4 from January 1942 onward, achieving further successes as a night fighter commander. By March 1943 he had been promoted to Major and later commanded elements of Nachtjagdgeschwader 101. In August 1943 he became commander of the newly reformed Zerstörergeschwader 76, an anti-bomber formation operating Bf 110 aircraft against Allied heavy bombers. During these operations he claimed several B-17 Flying Fortress bombers destroyed. Rossiwall survived the war and passed away on 11 July 1979.

This grouping contains Rossiwall’s first-issue Soldbuch, complete with his original portrait photograph pasted into the rear section of the document. The Soldbuch is extensively filled with wartime entries, unit stamps, leave entries, medical examinations, equipment issue records, and award entries. Since no further entries appear after late 1942, it is highly likely Rossiwall later received a second replacement Soldbuch for continued service.

The grouping additionally includes his original Militär-Flugzeugführerschein, wartime photographs, and accompanying related material.

Awards recorded inside the Soldbuch include:

  • Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse
  • Medalla de la Guerra
  • Cruz de Guerra
  • Spanienkreuz in Gold mit Schwertern
  • Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse
  • Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse
  • Ehrenpokal für besondere Leistungen im Luftkrieg
  • Frontflugspange in Silber – awarded 25.3.1941
  • Verwundetenabzeichen in Bronze – awarded 18.5.1941
  • Frontflugspange in Gold – awarded 23.6.1941
  • Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes – awarded 6.8.1941
  • Tapferkeitsabzeichen IV. Klasse, 1. Stufe – awarded 27.4.1942

The Soldbuch itself shows extensive honest wartime wear and service use throughout, with period aging, handling wear, field usage, and numerous official stamps and signatures consistent with active frontline Luftwaffe service.

Comes together with several additional original wartime photographs as well as Rossiwall’s original Militär-Flugzeugführerschein and a book written by him.

An exceptional and historically important Luftwaffe fighter ace and Ritterkreuzträger grouping with outstanding research potential, especially desirable due to Rossiwall’s documented Spanish Civil War service, Knight’s Cross award, Ehrenpokal, extensive combat career, and connection to some of the Luftwaffe’s best-known operational units.

WWII German Gestapo / SD Personnel Promotion File – BdS Metz – Signed by Heinrich Himmler!

750,00

Rare and historically significant original Third Reich personnel file relating to Karl Schmidt, a jurist who served within the Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) and later the Sicherheitsdienst (SD). The appointment proposal bears an original period ink signature of Heinrich Himmler.

The document group concerns Schmidt’s appointment from Regierungsassessor to Regierungsrat and includes official correspondence between the Reich Ministry of the Interior and the Präsidialkanzlei des Führers und Reichskanzlers.

Particularly noteworthy is the detailed personnel record listing Schmidt’s career progression through the judicial system before entering the Gestapo and subsequently being appointed to a senior security position in occupied France.

The file records that Schmidt:

  • Passed the first legal examination on 30 October 1930
  • Passed the major state examination in 1934
  • Served as Gerichtsassessor and later as a lawyer in Hamm
  • Entered the Staatspolizeileitstelle Stuttgart on 18 July 1939
  • Was transferred to the State Police office at Neustadt an der Weinstraße in 1940
  • Was permanently accepted into the Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo) service on 1 October 1940
  • Was transferred on 1 July 1941 as Befehlshaber der Sicherheitspolizei und des SD (BdS) in Metz, occupied Lorraine

The personnel sheet further notes:

  • Membership in the NSDAP since 1 May 1933
  • Party number 2,939,452
  • Rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer im SD
  • Association with the Reichsstelle für Sippenforschung

An especially interesting feature is the official statement:

“Die Parteikanzlei hat Einwendungen gegen die Ernennung nicht erhoben.”
(“The Party Chancellery has raised no objections to the appointment.”)

The document bears official filing references, stamps, annotations, and facsimile signatures associated with the appointment process handled through the Führer’s Chancellery.

Named Belgian M35 Officer Uniform – Lt. Georges L.L. Saint-Maux – Administration Service

550,00

An exceptional and historically researchable Belgian M35 officer’s uniform set, consisting of the tunic and matching trousers (the trousers are unfortunately not pictured, as they could not be mounted together with the display). The uniform belonged to an officer of the Belgian Army Administration service and pairs perfectly with the administrative kepi previously acquired from the same grouping.

What makes this set especially desirable is the fact that it is fully name-attributed. The interior label bears the name “Lt. St. Maux”, allowing the original owner to be positively identified as Georges L.L. Saint-Maux of Aarlen (Arlon).

Further research revealed Saint-Maux in the well-known “Guldenboek der Vuurkaarten”, where both his full name and portrait photograph are published, giving this uniform a direct and personal historical connection to its wearer. In addition, he also appears on the website of the Fraternelle Chasseur Ardennais, where he is listed among the Chasseurs Ardennais in 1938. During the First World War, Saint-Maux served with the Belgian 10th Line Regiment.

The tunic remains a fine and attractive example of the Belgian M35 officer uniform, showing honest period wear and age. A highly interesting named Belgian officer grouping with documented provenance and excellent research potential.

A rare opportunity to acquire a fully identified Belgian officer uniform belonging to a documented prewar and wartime officer with confirmed military service history.

Belgian M1935 Officer’s Tunic – 12e Linieregiment (Infantry)

450,00

Interesting and research-worthy Belgian Model 1935 officer’s tunic, fitted with shoulder boards of the 12th Line Regiment (12e Linieregiment). The tunic displays a remarkable combination of pre-war, wartime, and post-war elements, illustrating the continued use and adaptation of Belgian military uniforms throughout and after the Second World War.

Most striking are the eight gold front stripes on the lower sleeve, indicating four years of frontline service during the First World War. Such a distinction would only have been awarded to a veteran with extensive active front service between 1914–1918.

Inside the tunic is a name label dated 1940, reading — as far as currently decipherable — “Schouveller.” Research in Belgian military annuaries reveals a likely candidate: Schouveller R.V.J., Infantryman, born 15 October 1901.

This immediately creates a historical inconsistency, as an individual born in 1901 could not realistically have accumulated four years of effective frontline service during the First World War, and therefore would not qualify for eight front stripes. Furthermore, Schouveller appears associated with the Chasseurs Ardennais (Ardense Jagers) in period records.

Several plausible explanations exist:

  • The tunic may originally have belonged to Schouveller and later reused by an older First World War veteran during or after 1940.
  • The uniform could have been privately acquired or reused following mobilization, demobilization, or captivity circumstances.
  • The handwritten name may have been misread, requiring further archival comparison with similar surnames.

The tunic is decorated with numerous award ribbons connected to both World Wars, including:

  • Leopold Order with Palm
  • Fire Cross (Vuurkruis)
  • War Cross with Palms
  • Victory Medal
  • Iron Medal with four stripes
  • Belgian Centenary of National Independence Medal 1830–1930

The uniform is additionally fitted with the Fourragère / Vuurkoord, further enhancing its visual and historical appeal.

Rank insignia indicate Captain-Commandant, though these are clearly early post-war additions — entirely consistent with Belgian military practice, as pre-war uniforms were frequently reused and updated after 1945. The shoulder boards themselves also appear to be early post-war manufacture.

An especially interesting aspect is the historical connection between the 12th Line Regiment and the Chasseurs Ardennais, strengthening the possibility that the tunic reflects a transitional or reused service garment rather than a straightforward single-period issue.

Overall, this is a highly attractive and historically layered Belgian officer’s tunic with excellent research potential, illustrating the complex continuity between First World War veterans, the 1940 campaign, and post-war Belgian military service.

Das Deutsche Führerlexikon 1934–1935 – Original Third Reich Leadership Reference Book

450,00

Original wartime Das Deutsche Führerlexikon 1934–1935 in its original black hardcover binding with gilt title lettering to the front cover.

This early Third Reich reference work contains biographical and organizational information regarding political, military, governmental, and administrative leadership figures within Germany during the formative years of the National Socialist period. Such books were intended as official-style reference guides documenting prominent personalities and structures of the rapidly expanding state and party apparatus during the mid-1930s.

The book remains in very good overall condition with honest period wear to the cover and edges from age and handling. The gilt front title remains attractive and well preserved. A very displayable original example.

An increasingly scarce and historically significant early Third Reich political reference volume, especially desirable due to its pre-war 1934–1935 publication period.

Sold on commission.

Signed Photo of SA Chief Viktor Lutze Visiting Kriegsmarine Crew – Hoffmann Press Photo

375,00

Original wartime signed photograph depicting SA-Stabschef Viktor Lutze during a visit aboard a Kriegsmarine vessel in Brest.

The image shows Lutze together with a large group of Kriegsmarine sailors and officers aboard ship. The lower front margin bears a bold original ink signature of Viktor Lutze.

Viktor Lutze became Chief of Staff of the Sturmabteilung (SA) in 1934 following the death of Ernst Röhm during the Night of the Long Knives. As leader of the SA, Lutze remained one of the highest-ranking political figures within the Third Reich and frequently appeared at official military and propaganda events throughout the war years. He died on 2 May 1943 following injuries sustained in a serious automobile accident near Potsdam.

Reverse retains the original handwritten period notation: “Besuch des Stabschef der SA Lutze an Bord im Brest.” (“Visit of SA Chief Lutze aboard ship in Brest.”)

Also visible to the reverse is the printed credit line: “Photo-Standardpresse Heinrich Hoffmann Berlin SW 68 – Nachdruck verboten”

A very interesting original Third Reich signed photograph with strong historical and display appeal, especially for collectors of SA, Kriegsmarine, political memorabilia, and wartime autographs.

Condition as seen.

WWII Mk II Camouflaged Steel Helmet “Concrete” Textured Finish – G.S.W. 1941 – REME or BELGIAN FLAG

350,00

Original WWII Canadian Mk II steel combat helmet, manufactured in 1941 by G.S.W. (General Steel Wares in Toronto). The helmet retains an exceptional untouched combat-used appearance with a heavily textured rough camouflage finish, often referred to by collectors as a “concrete” or anti-glare finish. These field-applied coatings were created by mixing sand or granular material into the paint to reduce reflections and improve camouflage in combat conditions.

The shell is clearly maker marked and dated: G.S.W. Mk T 1941

The interior still retains its original wartime liner, though heavily worn and fragile from age and use. Interior liner markings visible including “V.M.C.” (Viceroy Manufacturing Company) and size/manufacturing codes. The helmet also retains its period web chinstrap.

Of particular interest is the worn painted insignia to the front, either appearing to be the REME insignia or resemble a Belgian tricolor marking, suggesting possible Belgian wartime or postwar reissue or continued service after liberation. Britain supplied large amounts of military equipment to Belgium during and after WWII, making such reuse entirely plausible.

The exterior finish has aged into a very dark brown-black tone with heavy patina and surface texture throughout, giving the helmet a superb battlefield relic appearance while still remaining structurally solid.

A highly displayable and untouched example of a wartime British combat helmet with strong character and excellent visual appeal.

350,00

Authentic British Second World War casualty medal group of four to Bombardier Frank Wardle, 4th Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery, who was killed in action in the Netherlands on 26 October 1944.

The group comprises:

  • 1939–1945 Star
  • France and Germany Star
  • Defence Medal
  • War Medal 1939–1945

Together with the original Next of Kin Memorial Scroll, named to Bombardier F. Wardle, Royal Regiment of Artillery, and a period Royal Artillery shoulder title. Also included are supporting research documents confirming service details, unit, and place of burial.

Bombardier Wardle (service number 2127923) served with the 4th Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery, a mobile artillery unit supporting armoured and infantry formations during the Allied campaign in North-West Europe. He was killed in action on 26 October 1944 during the fighting in the Netherlands, a period associated with intense operations following the advance from Normandy and the battles to secure key approaches into Germany.

He is buried at Bergen op Zoom War Cemetery, where many casualties from the autumn 1944 operations in Holland are commemorated.

The medals are original and accompanied by their correct ribbons, showing light age-related wear consistent with period use and storage. The memorial scroll is well preserved and forms a central part of the group, significantly enhancing its historical and commemorative value.

This is a poignant and fully attributable Second World War casualty group to a Royal Horse Artillery soldier, with strong historical context and research potential.

British WWII Mounted Medal Group, 91st Field Royal Artillery (Monte Cassino & Rhine Crossing)

325,00

Authentic British Second World War mounted medal group of six, comprising the 1939–1945 Star, Atlantic Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, and War Medal 1939–1945, mounted as worn on the original bar and accompanied by the Soldier’s Release Book.

The group is attributed to Battery Quartermaster Sergeant Hall, who served with the 91st Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, a Territorial Army unit associated with the 5th Infantry Division. The regiment saw extensive active service throughout the war, providing vital artillery support across multiple major theatres.

The medals include:

  • 1939–1945 Star – for early operational service
  • Atlantic Star – for service connected to the Battle of the Atlantic
  • Italy Star – for service in the Italian Campaign, including the fighting at Battle of Monte Cassino
  • France and Germany Star – for service in North-West Europe
  • Defence Medal – for non-operational service
  • War Medal 1939–1945 – for full-time wartime service

The 91st Field Regiment was mobilised in 1939 and initially deployed to France with the British Expeditionary Force. Following evacuation and reorganisation, it served in the North African campaign before taking part in the Allied advance through Italy, including operations around Monte Cassino. As a field artillery regiment equipped with 25-pounder guns, it played a key role in supporting infantry assaults and engaging enemy positions.

In the later stages of the war, the regiment was deployed to North-West Europe. By March 1945, it was operating under XXX Corps and took part in the Rhine crossing during the final Allied advance into Germany.

The group therefore reflects a highly experienced artillery NCO with confirmed service in:

  • North Africa
  • Italy (including Monte Cassino)
  • North-West Europe (Belgium and Germany)

The medals are mounted as worn on their original bar and display an even, attractive patina. The ribbons show light age-related wear consistent with period use.

Accompanied by the original Soldier’s Release Book, offering strong research potential and clear attribution, significantly enhancing collectibility.

The cap is constructed in dark navy wool, retaining a sharp, well-defined form. The front displays a fine officer-grade bullion insignia, featuring the classic IJN anchor beneath a cherry blossom, with bright gilt finish and only light age toning.

The black lacquered visor shows expected period crazing but remains structurally sound and complete. The chinstrap, side buttons, and stitching are all original and undisturbed.

The interior remains well preserved, with its original silk/rayon lining and sweatband intact, showing only light, honest service wear consistent with age. No repairs or alterations noted.

Importantly, the cap is accompanied by its original removable white summer cover, a feature sometimes missing on surviving examples and highly desirable among collectors. This significantly enhances both completeness and display appeal.

Belgian–Luxembourg B.U.N.C. “Brown Beret” Korea War Beret – Dated 1952

250,00

Original Belgian Army brown beret associated with the famous Belgian United Nations Command (B.U.N.C.), the volunteer contingent that served under United Nations command during the Korean War (1950–1953). This example retains its period brown wool construction, original leather sweatband, and a clearly visible interior ABL 1952 depot stamp, placing it firmly within the Korean War era. The beret is fitted with the Belgian royal cypher and Luxembourg insignia, making it an attractive display piece connected to the Belgian-Luxembourg volunteers known as the legendary “Brown Berets.”

The Belgian-Luxembourg Battalion fought with distinction in Korea and earned multiple international decorations for its service. Original Korean War-period items related to this unit are increasingly difficult to find, particularly examples incorporating Luxembourg insignia.

Good historical condition with age-related wear consistent with service and storage. Interior stamp remains visible. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

A desirable Korean War-era Belgian-Luxembourg military collectible connected to one of the most respected volunteer units of the Cold War period.

Leon Degrelle – 28. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier-Division “Wallonië”

250,00

SS-Standartenführer Leon Degrelle (15 June 1906, Bouillon † 31 March 1994, Málaga) was the Belgian leader of the Rexist Movement and one of the most famous foreign volunteers to serve in the Waffen-SS during the Second World War. He rose from enlisted service to command the Walloon volunteers on the Eastern Front, eventually leading the 28. SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Division “Wallonien.”

Degrelle distinguished himself in heavy fighting against Soviet forces, receiving some of the highest decorations awarded to non-German volunteers. He survived the war, escaping to Spain where he lived in exile until his death in 1994.

British WWII 4 Medal Mounted Group to Signalman, Royal Signals (France & Germany)

180,00

Authentic British Second World War mounted medal group of four, comprising the 1939–1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, and War Medal 1939–1945, mounted as worn and accompanied by the original Soldier’s Release Book.

The group is attributable to 2352270 Signalman R. G. Shaw, Royal Corps of Signals, with medal entitlement confirmed through service records. Issued to Richard George Shaw, of 93 Cardigan Road, Anlaby, Hull, Yorkshire.

The medals include:

  • 1939–1945 Star – for operational service during the war
  • France and Germany Star – for service in North-West Europe, likely during the Allied advance following D-Day
  • Defence Medal – for non-operational service
  • War Medal 1939–1945 – for full-time wartime service

The France and Germany Star confirms operational service in the North-West Europe theatre during 1944–45, a period encompassing the liberation of Western Europe and the final advance into Germany.

Signalman Shaw served in the Royal Signals, responsible for maintaining communications—an essential role in coordinating infantry, artillery, and armoured units during active operations.

The medals are mounted as worn on a period bar and display an even patina. The ribbons show light age-related wear consistent with service.

Condition: As shown in photographs.

WWII British Medal Group to Royal Engineers Sapper, Normandy 1944, with Service Book (Engine Driver)

175,00

Authentic British Second World War medal group of three, awarded to 14253819 Sapper Walter Clarke, Royal Engineers, comprising the 1939–1945 Star, France and Germany Star, and War Medal 1939–1945, accompanied by his original Army Book 64 (Soldier’s Service and Pay Book).

The group is fully attributable, with the service book confirming Clarke’s personal details, enlistment, trade, and wartime service. He enlisted on 6 August 1942 and was employed as an engine driver, having previously worked as an LMS fireman (locomotive), indicating specialist railway or transport-related skills.

The award of the France and Germany Star confirms operational service in North-West Europe. The service book records his deployment to Normandy on 17 August 1944, placing him in the theatre shortly after the Allied breakout from the Normandy beachhead and during the rapid advance across France.

As a member of the Royal Engineers, Clarke would have been engaged in essential logistical and infrastructure duties, likely including railway operation, transport coordination, and the repair or construction of key supply routes supporting front-line forces. Such roles were critical to maintaining the momentum of Allied operations following the Normandy landings.

The medals are mounted together and display a natural patina, with ribbons showing light age-related wear consistent with period use. The accompanying service book is well preserved and provides valuable insight into the soldier’s background and wartime role.

Missing in Action – August 1944

  • in August 1944

This places him during the chaotic German retreat after the Allied breakout from Normandy and the collapse of the front in France.

The included handwritten letter gives the grouping strong personal and research potential.

WWII Soviet Order of Glory 3rd Class – Numbered Silver Combat Decoration – Serial No. #375015

160,00

An original Soviet Order of Glory 3rd Class (Орден Славы III степени), awarded for personal bravery and heroism in combat during the Great Patriotic War.

This silver wartime example retains its original orange-and-black St. George ribbon and bears serial number 375015 on the reverse. The obverse displays the iconic Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin beneath a red enamel star, with the red enamel banner inscribed “СЛАВА” (“Glory”).

Established on 8 November 1943, the Order of Glory was one of the Soviet Union’s most respected frontline combat decorations. Awarded exclusively to enlisted men, NCOs, and junior aviation personnel, it recognized acts of exceptional courage under enemy fire. Typical qualifying actions included storming enemy positions, destroying machine-gun nests, capturing prisoners, conducting dangerous reconnaissance missions, or continuing to fight after being wounded.

The Order of Glory was awarded in three classes, with the 3rd Class representing the first step in a progression that could ultimately lead to the prestigious 1st Class. Because it was intended specifically for frontline soldiers, it became one of the most highly regarded Soviet awards of the Second World War and is often compared to the Imperial Russian St. George Cross.

Serial number 375015 places this decoration within wartime production and indicates issue to a specific Soviet serviceman for a documented act of battlefield bravery.

A desirable and historic original Soviet combat decoration directly connected to the fierce fighting on the Eastern Front during World War II.
