Soldbuch – Grenadier-Eratz-Btl. 365 (Nijmegen!) – Grenadier-Regiment 1130 – Ardennes

€225,00

Original Soldbuch which was issued to Alfred [surname difficult to read], born 14 April 1922 in Kassel. His personal details are recorded on the opening pages, including blood group AB, height approximately 1.76 m, and his physical characteristics.

Service history

The book contains several interesting unit entries, including:

  • Grenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 365 in Nijmegen (Holland) !
  • 4. Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 1130
  • A location entry for Nijmegen (Holl.), placing the soldier in the Netherlands during the later war period.

The Soldbuch also contains an extensive Bekleidungs- und Ausrüstungsnachweis documenting issued clothing and equipment, with numerous original handwritten entries, stamps and corrections.

The Grenadier-Regiment 1130 belonged to the 560. Volks-Grenadier-Division.

Grenadier-Regiment 1130

Grenadier-Regiment 1130 was formed on 1 August 1944 at Moss, Norway, for the newly established 560. Grenadier-Division. Following the division’s redesignation on 10 August 1944, the regiment became part of the 560. Volks-Grenadier-Division.

In November 1944 the division was transferred from Denmark to the Western Front. During the Ardennes Offensive, the regiment was committed from the area of Dahnen, with the initial objective of forcing crossings of the Our River in the area of Kalborn and Ouren.

The regiment subsequently advanced with the division through Tavigny towards Houffalize and continued fighting in the direction of Gouvy, before encountering heavy resistance around Samrée, Dochamps and Marcouray.

By 23 December 1944, the regiment had reached the furthest point of its offensive operations and was unable to make further gains.

During the fighting in January and February 1945, the 560. Volks-Grenadier-Division suffered increasingly severe losses. The remnants of Grenadier-Regiment 1130 were among the last remaining infantry elements of the division. Following further fighting around the Prüm position, Meckel and the Kyll, the division was reduced to only a few hundred men.

On 6 March 1945, the approximately 150 surviving men of the 560. Volks-Grenadier-Division were incorporated together with remnants of the 352. and 212. Volks-Grenadier-Divisions, under the command of the 352. Volks-Grenadier-Division.

A particularly interesting document for collectors of German Army Soldbücher, Grenadier units, late-war service and the 1944 fighting in the Netherlands/Nijmegen area.

An original, untouched wartime Soldbuch with photograph and documented service history — a great addition to a WWII German document collection.

The Soldbuch remains complete and very attractive as an original wartime document, complete with photo.

Wehrmacht Soldbuch – Grenadier-Regiment 769 & 770 – Panzerjäger-Kp. 1462 – POW (2x Awards)

€90,00

Original WWII German Wehrmacht Soldbuch. The soldbuch is in well-used, worn condition, particularly to the front pages, with extensive period writing, stamps, corrections and signs of long-term field use.

The Soldbuch documents service with:

  • Infanterie-Regiment 770
  • Grenadier-Regiment 769
  • 2. Stug (?) Panzerjäger-Kompanie 1462

The document contains several Lazarett/hospital entries, including stays at Reserve-Lazarett facilities in Aschaffenburg and Marienbad, providing additional evidence of the soldier’s wartime service and medical history.

Awards

Two clearly documented awards are recorded:

  • Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz — awarded 30 November 1943
  • Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen — awarded 4 February 1944

POW history

An especially interesting feature of this Soldbuch is its post-capture history. The document bears evidence that the soldier was subsequently held as a prisoner of war by the Allied forces, including an Allied POW number beginning with 31G-.

Condition

Fair / well-used condition.

The front pages show considerable wear, staining, handling damage and general age-related deterioration. Several pages contain heavy handwritten annotations, stamps and corrections. Despite the condition, the important service, hospital and award entries remain largely legible, making this a worthwhile original Soldbuch for collectors of German WWII personnel documents.

A genuine, untouched wartime Soldbuch with an infantry service history, two documented combat-related awards, multiple Lazarett entries and Allied POW markings.

Luftwaffe Flak Soldbuch – Luftsperrflakabteilung 207 (Paris, France) – Flak-Abt. 997

€155,00

Offered is the original Soldbuch of Karl Spatz, born 16 March 1903, a farmer by profession. The document contains an original period photograph of Spatz and provides a detailed record of his service in the Luftwaffe, primarily with Flak (anti-aircraft artillery) units.

Spatz entered Luftwaffe service in January 1941, initially serving with the Überwachungskommando Fliegerhorst Dortmund. From July 1941 onwards he appears in several Flak formations, including Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 112, followed by service with leichte Flak-Abteilungen 718 and 752. The later entries document further service with Flak-Abteilung 207 and Luftsperr-Flak-Abteilung 207, followed by leichte Flak-Abteilung 997.

Luftsperr-Flak-Abteilung 207 was active in France incl. in Lorient, Saint-Nazaire, Paris, Brest etc.

His training record is particularly interesting and shows training on the Karabiner 98k, 3.7 cm Flak and 2 cm Flak, confirming his practical background in Flak service. The Soldbuch also contains an original weapons issue page, recording a Karabiner 98k and Seitengewehr with their respective issue details.

His rank progression visible in the book includes promotion to Gefreiter on 1 December 1944, followed by Obergefreiter on 1 February 1945.

The Soldbuch is in clearly well-used wartime condition, with considerable age, staining, wear and handwritten annotations throughout. Despite the condition, a substantial amount of information remains legible, making this an interesting original document for collectors of Luftwaffe and Flak militaria. Denazified.

A later 1987 funeral notice for Frau Barbara Haubner, wife of Karl Spatz, came with  the soldbuch.

Award Doc, ID’s (Incl. Steuermannschein!) & Photo Group – Landungs-Pionier-Bataillon 772 – Rare KVK II with Swords Doc Variant

€195,00

A very interesting and unusually complete original WWII German Wehrmacht grouping to Oberschirrmeister Walter Novoczin, featuring several original documents, photographs and an award certificate connected with his service.

The centerpiece of the grouping is an original Verleihungsurkunde (award certificate) for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern, awarded to: Oberschirrmeister Walter Novoczin of Stab/ Landungs-Pionier-Bataillon 772.

The certificate (rare variant) is dated 1 September 1944 and was issued in the name of the Führer by the Oberbefehlshaber der 18. Armee, signed (stamped) in his capacity as General der Infanterie. The original period Dienstsiegel is also present.

Particularly interesting is the identification of Novoczin as an Oberschirrmeister and his connection to Landungs-Pionier-Bataillon 772, a specialist Wehrmacht landing-pioneer formation. Contemporary documentation places elements of Pi.Ldgs.Btl. 772 in the Baltic theatre during 1944, including operations around Estonia and the Baltic islands.

The grouping also contains an original Wehrmacht driver’s qualification/document, issued in Hamburg in September 1938, authorising Novoczin for training/driving Wehrmacht motor vehicles with internal-combustion engines. This provides an interesting pre-war/early-war aspect to the grouping and helps document his technical qualifications.

Also included is an original rare Steuermannschein für heereseigene Motor-Wasserfahrzeuge, bearing Novoczin’s photograph and personal signature. This is particularly appropriate to his later association with a Landungs-Pionier formation and gives the group an interesting specialist maritime/landing-pioneer connection.

The grouping is further accompanied by multiple original period photographs and a small single ribbonbar for the KVK2.

Condition

The documents show strong original period wear, including staining, foxing, fading, creasing, tears, edge wear and handling marks. The cloth-covered documents are particularly well-used and fragile, but retain their original character and remain fully worthy of preservation and display. The photographs likewise show age-related wear consistent with genuine wartime material.

A very attractive and researchable single-soldier grouping, with an identifiable name, rank, specialist qualifications, award documentation and a substantial photographic component. The combination of a Steuermann qualification + motor-vehicle qualification + Landungs-Pionier-Btl. 772 service + KVK II with Swords makes this a particularly interesting grouping for collectors of Wehrmacht specialist personnel and German military documents.

German Female Worker Document Grouping – Eisenwerke Oberdonau – 1942–1946

€175,00

The grouping provides an interesting glimpse into the life of a young German civilian woman during the Second World War and in the immediate post-war period.

  • Post-war Kennkarte / Identitätskarte, issued at Lebenstedt on 4 June 1946 by the Stadtverwaltung Watenstedt-Salzgitter.

The group is particularly appealing because it follows one individual across the wartime and immediate post-war period, with her original photograph and several matching documents preserved together.

The wartime ID is especially interesting because it documents her employment at Eisenwerke Oberdonau in Linz, an important wartime industrial complex, while the 1946 Kennkarte demonstrates her identification and circumstances shortly after the collapse of the Third Reich.

Original condition throughout, with expected age-related wear, folds, handling marks and patina. The documents retain their original photographs, stamps, signatures and other period details.

A very nice named and photographed female civilian grouping, suitable for collectors of WWII German documents, female workers, Reichspost material, industrial history and personal-history groupings.

A particularly interesting late-war entry is dated 11 May 1945, shortly after the German capitulation:

„Überführt in das Rgt. Helgoland 2. Btl. – 3. Kompanie Freiburg-Halbe“

This is an unusual and interesting final-war entry, documenting his transfer into Regiment Helgoland, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Company, Freiburg-Halbe.

A very interesting personal Kriegsmarine Soldbuch, particularly notable for the documented March 1945 service with Marine-Festungs-Pionier-Bataillon 360 and the unusual 11 May 1945 transfer entry.

Soldbuch & Document Grouping – Artillerie-Regiment 34 (Italy) – Nahkampftage Combat Document & Original Photos

€270,00

Interesting original WWII German document and photograph grouping belonging to Hermann Haferkamm, centered around his original Soldbuch and accompanied by additional wartime documentation, combat-related paperwork, photographs and period military phrasebooks.

The grouping includes the original Soldbuch of Hermann Haferkamm, born 24 April 1913. The Soldbuch is extensively filled in and contains numerous original entries, stamps and signatures.

His early military service is documented with 1./A.R.34, with further unit and personnel entries visible throughout the booklet. The Soldbuch contains a number of period entries concerning his service, equipment, leave and medical/lazarett history.

A particularly interesting piece within the grouping is the original typed document recording Nahkampftage (close-combat days) for Stwm. Hermann Haferkamm. The document records:

  • 17.12.1943 – Gegenstoß bei Markarowskije
  • 26.01.1944 – Kampf um Pawlowka und den Bahndamm südlich davon
  • 05.03.1944 – Kampf um Rubanny-Most, Bagwa und Umgebung

The document is officially stamped and signed, making it a particularly interesting piece of supporting combat documentation.

The Soldbuch’s awards section also contains several original entries and associated stamps/signatures, providing additional information on his military service and decorations.

The grouping is further accompanied by a substantial selection of original wartime photographs. These include individual soldier portraits, groups of German personnel and field scenes, including photographs showing soldiers around field positions and dugouts. The photographs are original period prints, several retaining their attractive scalloped edges.

Also included are two original wartime phrasebooks:

  • Deutsch-Polnischer Taschen-Sprachführer, by F. Sulzberger
  • Russisch für Soldaten, published by Horsch & Bechstedt, Köln

These publications are excellent period additions and fit naturally with the wartime documentation in the grouping.

Grouping includes

  • Original Soldbuch – Hermann Haferkamm
  • Born 24.04.1913
  • Service documentation including 1./A.R.34
  • Original Nahkampftage combat document
  • Original awards entries and military stamps/signatures
  • Original wartime photograph group
  • Several original field/portrait photographs
  • Deutsch-Polnischer Taschen-Sprachführer
  • Russisch für Soldaten
  • Additional original wartime paperwork

A very nice, coherent paper and photographic grouping with considerably more interest than a Soldbuch alone, especially because of the separately preserved Nahkampftage document and the accompanying original photographs.

E2+VWA Award Doc Set – Leutnant – Grenadier-Regiment 869 (356. Infanterie-Division) – Italy 1944

€185,00

Original wartime award document grouping belonging to Leutnant Heinz Bremer, serving with 6./Grenadier-Regiment 869, part of the 356. Infanterie-Division.

The grouping consists of two original documents: the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class) and the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz (Wound Badge in Black).

The Iron Cross 2nd Class was awarded to Leutnant Heinz Bremer of 6./Gren.Rgt. 869 on 9 October 1944 at the Divisional Command Post. The document carries the original wartime Dienstsiegel and the signature of Generalleutnant Karl Faulenbach, the divisional commander.

The accompanying Wound Badge document records that Bremer had been wounded on 23 September 1944. The Wound Badge in Black was subsequently awarded on 7 November 1944 in Würzburg. The certificate was processed through Reserve-Lazarett II Würzburg and retains the original hospital stamp and the signature of the responsible medical officer.

The history of Grenadier-Regiment 869 makes the group particularly interesting. The regiment served with the 356. Infanterie-Division, which in 1943 was deployed in the Toulon area under Heeresgruppe D and later moved to the Italian Riviera. During 1944 the division remained in Italy, operating through the Italian Riviera, the Orvieto area and subsequently around Rimini. By January 1945, the division was operating in the Trieste area under the LXXIII. Armeekorps and 10. Armee.

Thus, these documents provide a nicely documented personal connection to an officer of Grenadier-Regiment 869, following the unit’s service from the southern French theatre into the Italian campaign.

A very attractive and historically interesting named officer document grouping, retaining the original signatures, stamps and award details. Particularly desirable for collectors of 356. Infanterie-Division, Grenadier-Regiment 869 and German Army award documents.

Infanterie-Division was operating in the West Prussian/Danzig area at this time and had Marine-Schützen units under its command.
  • Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber — an original Besitz-Zeugnis confirming that Günther was awarded the Wound Badge in Silver as a result of a wound sustained on 2 May 1945. The certificate was issued at Travemünde on 11 July 1945, making this an especially interesting immediate post-war award document. The silver grade represented multiple wounds or qualifying severe injuries under the award regulations.
  • Polartaufschein / Polar-Taufschein — dated 18 August 1944 at Tromsø, awarded to Matrose III (sp.) Günther after crossing the Arctic Circle. The document is an original humorous naval “polar baptism” certificate, complete with Neptune/Ägir imagery and handwritten endorsement.

The Marine-Schützen-Bataillon 311 was formed in October 1944 and belonged to Marine-Schützen-Regiment 3. From January 1945 it was employed in ground combat on the Nogat front and was subsequently heavily engaged in the fighting around the Danzig Bay area.

Original period documents with the expected age-related folding, handling and paper wear. The Polar-Taufschein has particularly nice handwritten additions and period artwork. The award certificates remain very legible.

Note: The documents have been denazified

SS “Alte Kämpfer” Honour Chevron – Ehrenwinkel

€225,00

Original WWII SS Ehrenwinkel für Alte Kämpfer (Old Fighters Honour Chevron).

The insignia features a black wool triangular backing with silver/white metallic woven tresse, with the characteristic black detailing. The reverse shows the original stitching and construction.

EK2 Award Doc – Stellungs-Artillerie-Abteilung 804 – June 1940

€85,00

Original wartime Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class) award certificate, issued to Gefreiter Max Rupp, serving with St.Art.Abt. 804.

The certificate is dated 18 June 1940, placing the award firmly within the Western Campaign period. The unit designation St.Art.Abt. 804 refers to Stellungs-Artillerie-Abteilung 804, a fixed-position artillery formation of the German Army. In 1940, elements of Stellungs-Artillerie-Abteilungen 803, 804 and 807 were among the artillery formations operating under the artillery command structure in the 7th Army area.

The document is issued in the name of the Führer and Supreme Commander of the Wehrmacht and awards Rupp the Iron Cross 2nd Class. It retains the original period Dienstsiegel and an original ink signature of the responsible General der Infanterie und Kommandierender General Alfred Wäger.

A very nice original early-war artillery award document, dated just days after the conclusion of the main fighting in the West. The combination of the named recipient, the relatively uncommon Stellungs-Artillerie-Abteilung 804 designation, original stamp and period signature makes this a particularly attractive piece for collectors of German Army artillery and 1940 Western Campaign material.

WWII Luftwaffe Flak Table Pennant / Tischfahne – Complete with Pole & Base

€0,01

Offered here is an original WWII German Luftwaffe Flak Tischfahne (table pennant), a very attractive and highly decorative piece of Luftwaffe Flak memorabilia.

The pennant features the characteristic Luftwaffe eagle and Iron Cross design, with the red-and-white field and black detailing, finished with white fringe around the edges. The reverse carries the corresponding wartime design, making this a particularly attractive double-sided example.

The flag is mounted on its original-style wooden pole with ball finial and comes complete with a separate display base. The pole can be removed from the base, allowing the two components to be stored or transported separately. Size is approx. 14 x 14 cm

The textile shows genuine age and signs of use, including some wear to the fringe, stitching and surface, but remains very displayable. The photographs show the condition in detail.

WWII Luftwaffe Soldbuch – Flak Weapons Technical Personnel – Flak-Abt. 683 (Caen, France) (2x Awards)

€150,00

Original WWII German Luftwaffe Soldbuch, belonging to a Luftwaffe Flak weapons technical specialist. The Soldbuch is an extensively used wartime document, retaining the original portrait photograph and a large number of handwritten and officially stamped entries covering the holder’s military career.

The Soldbuch was opened in August 1939, with the holder’s service recorded with a number of Luftwaffe Flak and technical formations, including:

  • Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 364
  • Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 346
  • schwere Flak-Abteilung 197
  • Flakwaffentechnische Schule der Luftwaffe Halle/Wörmlitz
  • gemischte Flak-Abteilung 683 (v)
  • Flak-Inst. 107/XII

Also recorded is a Lehrgang from 24.3.–5.5.1944 with 2./Feld-FAS (West) 31.

His specialist Flak service is further reflected by the awards recorded in the Soldbuch:

  • Tätigkeitsabzeichen der Flakartillerie
  • Flakkampfabzeichen

The photograph is still present and shows the original owner wearing his Luftwaffe uniform, with the Flakkampfabzeichen clearly visible in wear in the portrait.

The combination of the explicit “Flakwaffentechn. Personal” designation, his service with the Flakwaffentechnische Schule der Luftwaffe Halle/Wörmlitz, subsequent Flak formations and eventual service with Flak-Inst. 107/XII makes this a particularly interesting example of a Luftwaffe Flak technical personnel Soldbuch.

The Soldbuch contains a substantial amount of original wartime documentation, including unit transfers, training/course entries, equipment and clothing records, medical information, vaccinations, leave authorisations and numerous official stamps and handwritten annotations. This gives the document considerable research potential for reconstructing the holder’s career.

Condition

Heavily service-used condition.

The Soldbuch shows extensive staining, handling wear, creasing, fading and age-related deterioration. Several pages have water/moisture staining and some entries are difficult to read, but the book remains remarkably interesting because of the quantity of surviving original documentation.

The cover is worn but retains its original Luftwaffe Soldbuch design, and the original photograph remains attached inside.

WWII Luftwaffe Soldbuch – Wachtmeister – Lehrbatterie Rerik, Feld-FAS, Late-War Flak Units! (7x Awards)

€225,00

Original WWII German Luftwaffe Soldbuch, issued to Wachtmeister Wilhelm (?), born 3 November 1915.

The Soldbuch was originally issued in 1939 and remains complete with its original portrait photograph. The holder served throughout the war in the Luftwaffe Flak arm, with the document containing numerous period entries, unit stamps, training records, medical/lazaret entries, leave entries and other service annotations.

Of particular interest is his service with:

  • Lehrbatterie Rerik
  • Feld-Flak-Artillerie-Schule (Ost)
  • zbV Flak-Batterie 14050
  • gemischte Flak-Abteilung 1117 (v)

The Soldbuch contains a particularly interesting collection of Flak artillery qualifications and awards, including:

  • Sudetenland Medal with Spange
  • Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern
  • Tätigkeitsabzeichen für Flakartillerie
  • Schießabzeichen für Flakartillerie
  • Kampfabzeichen der Flakartillerie
  • Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse
  • Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz

His training record is particularly impressive. It records instruction on a wide variety of infantry and Flak weapons, including:

  • Karabiner 98k
  • Pistole 08
  • Handgranate 24
  • MP 40
  • 3,7 cm Flak 18 u. 36
  • 2 cm Oerlikon
  • 4 cm Bofors

Later training specifically records him as a 3,7 cm Flak 43 gun commander, and he attended a conversion course on the 3,7 cm Flak 43 at Flak-Regiment 19 in September 1944.

The Soldbuch also contains an entry for the Feld-Flak-Artillerie-Schule (Ost) 40. This was an operationally relevant Luftwaffe Flak school associated with training and employment on the Eastern Front. The presence of this entry provides additional research interest when reconstructing the holder’s wartime service.

There are numerous additional entries throughout the book, including several changes of unit, field-service and training entries, leave authorisations and multiple hospital/lazaret records. The quantity of original handwriting, official stamps and period annotations gives this Soldbuch excellent research potential and provides a detailed insight into the holder’s service and progression within the Luftwaffe Flak arm.

The original portrait photograph is still present, showing the holder in Luftwaffe uniform with his original insignia.

Condition

Heavily service-used condition, exactly as expected from a Soldbuch carried throughout the war. The booklet has extensive staining, fading, water damage, edge wear, creasing and general handling wear. Some pages are difficult to read, but a considerable amount of information remains legible.

An especially interesting Luftwaffe Flak Soldbuch, with extensive weapons training, Flak qualifications, combat-related awards and a well-documented progression through several Luftwaffe Flak formations.

Top Luftwaffe Flak Set – EK II & Erdkampfabzeichen – Belgium & Holland 1944

€285,00

A highly desirable and completely original named Luftwaffe Flak grouping belonging to Wachtmeister Oswald Drescher, comprising two wartime award documents together with his original period photograph.

The grouping contains:

  • Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (EK II) award document, dated 20 November 1944, issued to Wachtmeister Oswald Drescher, 4./Lei. Flakabtlg. 10080.
  • Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe award document, dated 27 November 1944, issued to Wachtmeister Oswald Drescher, 5./gem. Flakabteilung 598 (v)(RAD).
  • Original wartime photograph of Oswald Drescher wearing his Luftwaffe uniform.

Both award documents bear the signature of Generalmajor Friedrich Deutsch (DKiG), commander of the 16. Flak-Division.

The grouping is particularly interesting for its connection to the Western Front and the fighting in Holland and Belgium during the final months of 1944. Flak-Abteilung 598 was under the command of Hauptmann Kansky, Flakführer of Eindhoven, with personnel including members of RAD-Gruppen 200 and 224.

The two awards were issued only seven days apart, on 20 and 27 November 1944, providing an excellent documented snapshot of Drescher’s service during the intense fighting on the Western Front.

The combination of two named original award documents, the original recipient photograph, period unit details, and the connection to the 16. Flak-Division and Flak-Abteilung 598 makes this a particularly attractive grouping for the Luftwaffe and Flak collector.

A very nice original named grouping with strong Western Front provenance and excellent potential for further research into Oswald Drescher and Flak-Abteilung 598.

WWII Luftwaffe Flak Leutnant Officer Kragenspiegel – Uniform Removed

€60,00

Original WWII German Wehrmacht Heer officer’s Kragenspiegel (collar tabs) for a Leutnant, presented as a matching pair.

The tabs are constructed in the typical officer-quality embroidered style, with silver/aluminium-coloured bullion embroidery on a red Waffenfarbe backing. The distinctive officer pattern and rank style make these an excellent addition to a Heer uniform or insignia collection. Heer officers wore embroidered collar patches, with the branch colour incorporated into the collar insignia.

These are original period pieces, removed from a uniform, rather than reproductions or newly manufactured insignia.

Both tabs retain their original construction, with visible age, wear and some loose threads consistent with their having been removed from a wartime uniform. The red wool backing remains particularly strong in colour.

Condition: Used/worn, with some loose threads and signs of service use as shown.

WWII Luftwaffe Flak Wehrpass – Afrikakorps, Afrika Campaign – KIA 1943 in Libya (3x Awards)

€170,00

Offered here is an original German WWII Wehrpass belonging to Wilhelm Pelzer, a Luftwaffe/Flak serviceman whose service record documents his participation in the North African campaign.

Service Details

  • Name: Wilhelm Pelzer
  • Born: 4 February 1913
  • Branch: Luftwaffe / Flak
  • Initial unit: Flak-Regiment 64
  • Later units:
    • Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 642
    • Flak-Regiment 46, serving with this unit until 17 January 1943
  • Occupation: Hilfsarbeiter

The Wehrpass contains entries documenting his Flak training, including training on the 2 cm Flak 30 and 2 cm Flak 38, as well as his subsequent operational service.

North Africa Service

One of the most interesting aspects of this Wehrpass is the documented movement to Italy and subsequently North Africa in 1942.

The entries record his deployment during the campaign and place him in the North African theatre, making this more than simply a Luftwaffe Flak service document with a possible African connection.

His service history includes participation in the fighting in North Africa, including the Tobruk area, placing the Wehrpass firmly within the history of the German Afrika campaign.

Awards

The Wehrpass records several awards, including:

  • Medaille zur Erinnerung an die Heimkehr des Sudetenlandes (Sudetenland Medal)
  • Flakkampfabzeichen (Flak Combat Badge) – with the relevant entry referring to z.b.V. Afrika
  • Deutsch-Italienische Erinnerungsmedaille (German-Italian Commemorative Medal)

Death in North Africa

Particularly significant is the final entry in his service history.

Wilhelm Pelzer was killed in action on 17 January 1943 at Beni Ulid (Bani Walid), Libya, through a gunshot wound to the chest — “durch Brustdurchschuss.”

His death date and location therefore provide a very specific connection between the document and the final stages of his service in the North African campaign.

Condition / Notes

The original photograph has unfortunately been removed from the Wehrpass. Nevertheless, the surviving pages contain substantial military and operational information, including his unit history, training, awards and North African deployment, making this a particularly interesting original document for collectors of Luftwaffe Flak, Afrika Korps and North Africa campaign material.

A very interesting named Wehrpass with documented North African service, Flak combat decoration and a recorded KIA date and location.

An excellent addition to a collection focused on the Luftwaffe, German Flak units, Afrika Korps / North Africa campaign, or named WWII military documents.

WWII German Death Card – Joseph Sontheim – Flak KIA – Eifel, January 1945

€15,00

The card features an original portrait photograph of Sontheim in uniform and gives the following personal and service details:

Joseph Sontheim

Fallen 5 January 1945 in the Eifel (Westen)

The card is printed with a memorial text dedicated to him as a “guten, braven Sohn und Bruder”, followed by a religious poem and a request for eternal rest.

The photograph shows Sontheim wearing his military uniform and headgear, providing a particularly nice personal connection to the document.

WWII Hitlerjugend Flakhelfer Portrait – Leistungsabzeichen

€45,00

Original WWII period photograph in postcard format, showing a young Hitlerjugend Flakhelfer in uniform. The photograph clearly shows the HJ Leistungsabzeichen worn on the uniform, making this an attractive portrait for collectors of late-war Luftwaffe and Hitlerjugend-related material.

The photograph retains its original period deckled edges and is identified on the reverse with the photographer’s stamp:

“Phot. Emil Kühnle, Aalen”

A particularly nice original portrait, with the HJ insignia and uniform clearly visible.

WWII Hitlerjugend Flakhelfer Portrait

€45,00

Original WWII period portrait photograph of a Hitlerjugend Flakhelfer, presented in postcard format.

The photograph shows the young Flakhelfer wearing his uniform and HJ cap with LW eagle. The HJ armband is also clearly visible, adding further interest to the photograph.

The reverse bears a handwritten period notation reading “1943–44”, together with a period photographer’s stamp: “Photographie Max Gönig, Linz a. Rh.”

A very attractive original wartime portrait, particularly interesting for collectors of Hitlerjugend Flakhelfer, Luftwaffe Flak and late-war German militaria photography.

WWII German Death Card – Josef Deterreicher – Flak Regiment – KIA Tunis, Africa

€15,00

Original WWII German death card (Sterbebild) for Josef Deterreicher, a Gefreiter in a Flak Regiment.

The card identifies him as:

Josef Deterreicher
Bauerssohn von Gerling
Gefreiter in einem Flak-Regiment

He was killed on 30 April 1943 in Tunis, North Africa, at the age of 21½ years.

The card is headed “Gebets-Andenken” and is dedicated to the soldier as a beloved son and brother. It features his original portrait photograph in uniform, together with a memorial prayer and poem.

Historical significance

A particularly interesting Flak casualty Sterbebild from the Tunisian campaign. The explicit identification as a Gefreiter in a Flak-Regiment, combined with his death in Tunis on 30 April 1943, places the card firmly within the final phase of the Axis campaign in North Africa.

The portrait is also particularly attractive, showing Deterreicher wearing his wartime uniform and side cap.

The card retains its original printed format and portrait photograph. There is some age-related staining, handling wear and minor damage, particularly around the edges, but the main text and photograph remain clearly visible.

WWII Luftwaffe WH-Führerschein – Schwere Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 60 – 1941

€35,00

This is an original WWII German Luftwaffe Wehrmacht-Führerschein, and the unit stamp makes it considerably more interesting than an anonymous example.

Suggested title

Original WWII Luftwaffe Wehrmacht-Führerschein – Schwere Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 60 – 1941

Description

Original WWII German Wehrmacht-Führerschein, issued to a Luftwaffe serviceman serving with Schwere Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 60.

The military driving licence retains the original uniform portrait photograph, showing the owner in his Luftwaffe tunic. The document is officially stamped and signed and was issued on 25 November 1941. The licence appears to be entered for Klasse 2 und 3.

Of particular interest are the clearly visible unit markings for:

Schw. Flak-Ers. Abt. 60
Schwere Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 60

Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 60 was formed at Wismar in August 1939 and served as a Luftwaffe anti-aircraft replacement/training formation. Period unit histories place the formation at Wismar during this period; it was subsequently reorganised and later moved to Güstrow.

The Führerschein is in heavily used, untouched condition, with considerable edge wear, fraying, staining, folds and general service wear. Despite this, the important photograph, unit stamps and principal entries remain present. The amount of wear gives it a particularly authentic field-used appearance.

A nice named and photographed Luftwaffe Flak document, considerably more desirable than a generic Wehrmacht driving licence because of the identifiable Flak unit.

Condition: Heavily worn/service used, as shown.

Price

A standard photographed Wehrmacht-Führerschein can be quite inexpensive; for example, a current dealer example is listed at €25. However, I would place this one higher because of the Luftwaffe Flak unit attribution and prominent Schw. Flak-Ers.Abt. 60 stamps.

I would put it in the webshop at €69.95–€79.95, probably €74.95.
